Getting Organized
AGile Practices
- The most efficient way to get started with Agile will heavily depend on the initial reality of the organization, the product and the people involved with producing the product
- It will not be possible to give a generic recipe for implementing like first do this, then organize like this, then … and so on.
The Super Agile Start-up
Establish structure - manintain agility
- E.g. if you’re a small startup, you probably have a strong market advantage of being highly adaptable to changes in market, customers and technology. Still to secure your stance and be ready for growth, some structure and practices will probably be relevant to consider.
- Setting up a lot of processes might jeopardize your agility and advantage of being a small coherent co-located team, so a ‘just enough, just in time’ approach might be the best option. So, setting up just enough structure to maintain momentum and secure your position, just in time for efficiently supporting business needs or market changes.
Distributed Teams
Complex Organizations
- If you’re a larger organization, distributed teams might be a reality that you’ll need to embrace
- This will indicate practices and structures that should be considered early in the agile implementation, to achieve frictionless smooth communication to ensure common understanding across your organization.
Tools
supporting your practices
- If you’re small and co-located the best early approach to choosing tools to support your agile practices might be ‘manual’. This will let you get the practices under the skin and give you an understanding of what’s important to get tool support for, before choosing.
- Whether you’re a small agile setup or a larger complex organization, you probably already have tools implemented that are well known and understood. It’s safe to assume that these tools will already have features that you can use to support your agile activities, and the cheap and safe approach might be to use these.
Sparring
If you’re uncertain of the best way ‘to get your feet wet’ we’ll be happy to give a little sparing free of charge.
Sparring is a two-way activity, and there’s always new understandings and knowledge to be obtained. It’s a win-win, so let’s get started.
